Right now, it might feel like folks aren't listening to each other and aren't on the same page. But there is an endless list of universally held values that bring us together – one important one being generosity. Being generous can make us happier, make a difference in the world, and inspire generosity in others. #GivingTuesday is a day dedicated to generosity. It is an opportunity for you to stand up for the causes that matter most to you and participate in the change you want to see in the world. We're asking you to share your generosity with MREA, our community, and all of the other important causes that you care about.
MREA's vision is a Montana powered by the sun, wind, and earth. Our mission is to expand the use of renewable energy in Montana, to affect public policy in favor of renewable energy, and to educate and inform the residents of Montana of the benefits and uses of renewable energy. Here are some highlights of our impact over the past year:
Defending net metering. Over the past 14 months, MREA staff read, analyzed, and responded to more than 5,000 pages of testimony, worksheets, and data. We successfully protected Montanans from the utility's proposals to drastically change Montana’s net metering program. (Read more about our huge victory for net metering).
Educating our future leaders. MREA was invited to speak at a half-dozen different presentations around the state, including directly educating more than 100 students at MSU and UM. We had the special opportunity to present to dozens of students from the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) program as well.
Advocating for sound energy policy. As a leading voice for renewable energy advocacy in the state, MREA continued its presence before the Montana Legislature, lobbying on a dozen different bills affecting qualifying facilities, tax incentives, grant programs to fund solar for schools, utility resource planning, energy storage, and more.
Engaging with communities. We engaged with more than 1,200 community members during three community-based and energy-focused events: our annual Montana Clean Energy Fair in Bozeman and our Clean Energy Expos with local partners in Missoula and Helena.
MREA is a small but effective organization and a leading voice for renewable energy education and advocacy in Montana. We ask that you make a contribution that is meaningful for you, and we thank you for your support and generosity.
